We are super proud of our latest Couch to 5KM graduates who persevered for 8 weeks to discipline and train their bodies to the point of being able to complete the 5KM distance.
We invited the C25KM graduates to complete their 5KM run at Gt. Lines parkrun on what turned out to be a cold and windy morning - Not the most ideal of conditions for your first 5KM but it certainly didn't prove to be a barrier as they all got their heads down and pressed on regardless!
It was amazing to have them each issued with their certificates confirming their awesome achievement and we trust that in the weeks and months ahead they will clock up many more KMs/miles as they further embrace their new running journey.
Here are a few words from Natalie Gould who is one of our coaches:
It was lovely to come home from work today to see the Great Lines parkrun results and my news-feed full of photos of happy runners! 😄
I am so immensely proud of everyone involved in the C25k, not just the amazing graduates who have stepped out of their comfort zone to achieve this incredible feat (in some awesome times too!), but also all the people who have helped in some way by giving up their time to support and encourage the new members of the club. 💓
I feel so thankful to be part of such an incredibly supportive community and to know that all our new runners had at least one buddy with them today. 👏🏃
Very well done Medway Fit, I am beyond proud of you all!! 😚
On Saturday, 21st January 2017 Ben Voke became the first Medway Fit junior to complete 100 parkruns!!! #kudos
Bens very first parkrun was in December of 2013 and since then he has run 7 different parkruns (including junior parkrun) and he has a 5km PB seat at Gt. Lines parkrun of 23:51.
We're really proud of Bens great achievement and know that he has a great future ahead of him as he further embraces his running adventure.
Well done Ben!
Massive congrats to Kirsty Winwood & Liz Vassell for both completing marathon #100 today.
This would be an amazing standalone achievement on its own but check this out...
Liz is now in the top 5 fastest in the world to get from 0 to 100 marathons!!!
Kirsty is the fastest female and 2nd fastest overall in the world to get from 0 to 100 marathons!!!
We are truly inspired and can't wait to see what comes next!

The Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Trust runs a 10km race at Capstone Country Park on Sunday 30th August at 10:30am (see link below)
This is the 3rd year year running of the event. They are seeking volunteer marshalls for the event. Volunteers would need to be able to arrive at Capstone for 9:30am on the morning of the 30th August and they should be able to leave by approximately 12pm. Volunteers will be briefed by Race Organisers 'Nice Work' on the day and will placed around the course to show runners where to go.
If anyone can help marshall this event, then please ask them to contact Lindsey Wileman, Public Relations Officers on Lindsey.Wileman@medway.nhs.uk
