MARATHON DISTANCE
Being a marathon runner means you are part of an elite club - It is rumored by statisticians that less than 1% of the British population can claim that they have completed the marathon distance.
Team Medway knows what it takes to dig-deep and train for 3-6 months in preparation for the grueling (and rewarding!) challenge of completing the 26.2miles (42km) distance and how to overcome the dreaded wall along the way! We have multiple runners and coaches that have completed the marathon distance numerous times at events across Europe such as the prestigious runs of Brighton, London, Berlin, Paris & Geneva. Many of our team have even taken on Ultra Marathons, such as the Threshold Trail Series or Rat Race events. We also have runners that have completed multiple laps and loops of circuits such as Gravesend Cyclopark as well as other equally awesome long-distance events organised by groups such as Saxon, Vikings & Normans Marathons. Three of our running buddies; Andrew Burgess (who trains also with Maidstone Harriers), Liz Vassell (who trains with Istead & Ifield) and Kirsty Winwood (one of our Medway Fit coaches) each completed their 100th marathons in 2016 - Some seriously impressive personal achievements!
