5/8/2015

The Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Trust runs a 10km race at Capstone Country Park on Sunday 30th August at 10:30am (see link below)

This is the 3rd year year running of the event. They are seeking volunteer marshalls for the event. Volunteers would need to be able to arrive at Capstone for 9:30am on the morning of the 30th August and they should be able to leave by approximately 12pm. Volunteers will be briefed by Race Organisers 'Nice Work' on the day and will placed around the course to show runners where to go.

If anyone can help marshall this event, then please ask them to contact Lindsey Wileman, Public Relations Officers on Lindsey.Wileman@medway.nhs.uk

Pre-production cFit vest sample arrives!!!

The pre-production sample has arrived and it looks awesome!

The one in the pictures above is a mens medium, the sizes come up larger than our cFit run tshirts so please bear that in mind when ordering!

We're loving the deep rich colours and creative design work!

We'll order a few spares of popular sizes in both male and female cuts (they'll obviously be blank where the personalised name is located) but we don't envisage ordering another batch as we need to order a minimum of 50 vests to get them at the current prices.

We'll be placing our final order on Monday 3rd August so don't miss out on ordering your very own vest, available in male and female cuts from XS to XXL.

They're just £13.50 each including FREE personalised name on the back and with each vest sold a small amount goes directly towards covering club costs such as basic admin, website hosting and purchasing new training equipment.

New cFit running vests/singlets

16/7/2015

Picture
So tonight we went live with the finished design for our new cFit running vest.

They come in both male and female cuts ranging from XS through to XXL (sadly no child sizes).

They of similar design to our running shirts in that the design is actually printed into the weave of the fabric so won't fade or peel over time and what's even better is you can have your name or a suitable nickname (nothing rude or offensive, sorry!) printed for FREE if your order is placed before we go into production.

Each vest will be sold at £13.50 each and at that price why not buy a couple!!!

Just for clarity we will make approx £1 from each sale which will go directly towards covering some basic admin costs like covering our cFit website domain & hosting fees (£80 per year).

We have a couple of sample tops (medium mens, medium womens) which you can try on over the next couple of weeks to get a feel for the cut and sizing.

The final order will be placed on or around 1st August with ETA of finished vests expected around 1st September.

We need to order a minimum of 50 vests to get the pricing as quoted above. If the order is short then we'll order a few spares in popular sizes to make up the order.

Payment in full for each top will be required before we place the order.

5 new Leaders in Running Fitness

6/7/2015

Picture
As you may know by now, 5 members of #TeamcFit have recently undertaken training to be Leaders in Running Fitness (LIRF).  Thank you very much to all of you for your support for us to do this.
It's exciting that our group is growing so that we need others to be trained in order to support fellow runners' progress.

Through the course we were shown ways to identify people's level of ability for the ABC's - Agility, Balance and Co-ordination. This did include a 'musical statues' style game so watch out for this one (more than a couple of us did wobble/fall over!)We were also encouraged to expand our ideas of what a training session is, it's purpose and different ways to deliver it.

There was a general feeling amongst the group (Lee, Dee, Richard, Kirsty & Natalie) that the course was definitely worthwhile. We all learnt what is involved in running.  We had sessions focusing on energy systems, how to instruct and explain as well as a few hands-on parts where we had to deliver what we'd just learnt. It was good to learn from others' feedback, and to observe others' leadership styles. I think we all came away having learnt something new.

This course has helped us all gain a better understanding of how to put training techniques together and how to adapt them. We learnt and practiced many a technique as well as leading small group sessions. There were equal amounts of theory and practical (which was handy as the classroom was a little chilly!).

With the practical sessions it did feel like we were put on the spot a few times. We were shown a skill then, minutes later, having to lead a small group remembering to implement what we'd just seen. It was challenging for a few of us, as we had to think on our feet, but I guess that's how it can feel on a Thursday night when the weather or venue change!

The tutors were friendly as well as knowledgeable. They were approachable and it was good to watch them demonstrate what they wanted us to learn.

To sum up, I shall leave the other fellow LiRFs to tell you in their own words what they made of it:

Lee: 'fun and memorable'
Richard: 'well delivered'
Kirsty: 'lots of useful information..... and thinking outside of the box'
I think all of us who went can echo Dee's words: 'I have more confidence in being able to plan and deliver a session'.

So, please, encourage my fellow LiRFs as they undertake to plan and deliver tailor made sessions for the fabulous group that is cFit!

Tonight we had the first our our LiRF fundraising events to help gather funds to contribute towards the training of 6 new Leaders in Running Fitness.
